Hampshire Narrowly Beaten by West Midlands in Tight County Clash
This weekend saw Hampshire take on West Midlands in another exciting county darts encounter. Despite a strong showing across all sections, Hampshire were narrowly defeated 16–20 in what proved to be a close and competitive fixture throughout.
There were plenty of standout performances over the weekend. For the Women’s A side, Pennie Lewis impressed with a confident 3–1 victory, averaging 20.10. In the Men’s B team, Mike Symes produced one of the performances of the match, winning 4–2 with an excellent 27.11 average. Over in the Women’s B, Laura Turner continued her fine form with a 3–1 win and an 18.46 average, while Chas Barstow showed his class for the Men’s A side, taking a hard-fought 4–3 win with a superb 28.68 average.
It was also a weekend of fantastic milestones for several Hampshire players, marking their commitment and long-standing service to the county. Kev Woodward and Justin Bradshaw both made their 50th appearances, Chas Barstow, Mike Symes, and Laura Turner each reached 75 games, while Mike Gillet and Graham Chalk celebrated an incredible 100 appearances in Hampshire colours.
Although the final score went against Hampshire, there were plenty of positives to take away — from strong performances to special milestones — reflecting the talent and dedication across all teams.
Next up, Hampshire face Northampton away as they look to bounce back and turn in another strong performance.
