Hampshire Battle Hard but Gwent Take the Points
This past weekend saw Hampshire take on Gwent in their latest County Championship fixture. Despite a determined effort across all four sections, the match finished Hampshire 15 – Gwent 21, with several standout performances shining through a tough encounter.
The Men’s A team faced a strong Gwent side and were defeated 10–2, while the Men’s B team produced a solid display to claim a 7–5 victory. Both the Women’s A and Women’s B sides earned well-deserved 3–3 draws, rounding off a competitive weekend of darts.
There were plenty of individual highlights worth recognising. In the Women’s B, Jo Rolls delivered an impressive 3–0 win, averaging 18.33. Over in the Men’s B team, Mike West continued his excellent form this season with a 4–2 victory and a strong 25.46 average. For the Men’s A side, Chas Barstow once again led from the front, claiming a superb 4–1 win with a brilliant 30.30 average — one of the top performances of the weekend. In the Women’s A, Tracy North secured a confident 3–1 win, averaging 18.39.
Although the final score didn’t go Hampshire’s way, the effort, quality, and determination across all teams were clear to see. The squad will now regroup and look to bounce back strongly in their next county outing.
